The Folk Tale

Sale priceRs. 7,999.00

Every culture that has ever made cloth has made this cloth — the one with deer and flowers and geometric forms, the one that tells a story rather than repeats a pattern. The Folk Tale borrows from all of them: Kalamkari, Warli, Phad, the folk traditions of Rajasthan and beyond.

The composition is a patchwork of panels, each one a different scene. Deer mid-stride. Flowering plants. Starburst suns. Geometric borders in chevron and diamond. The palette is earthy and warm: antique gold, burgundy, teal, ivory — the colours of old pigment and sun-faded cloth.

There is an intentional roughness to the print — textures that suggest age, marks that read like hand-printing even in a digital age. This is a kurta that looks like it carries something. It does.

Dutchess Satin — 220 GSM
A Rayon–Viscose blend with a satin face. The narrative density of this print demands a fabric that holds it flat and lets the eye travel — the weight of the Dutchess Satin does exactly that.

Worn with white churidar or slim trousers as shown — the busyness of the print needs a clean lower half. For a mehendi, a morning wedding, a cultural event. For the man who knows what he is wearing and why.
